Sunscreen Write for Us
Sunscreens are agents that help prevent ultraviolet (UV) rays from reaching the skin. There are two types of ultraviolet radiation, UVA rays and UVB rays, which damage the skin and increase the risk of skin cancer. UVB light is the leading cause of sunburn. While UVA rays penetrate the skin more deeply, they are associated with wrinkles, loss of elasticity, and other effects of photoaging. It also exacerbates the carcinogenic effects of UVB rays, and UVA light is increasingly being considere a cause of skin cancer. Sunscreens vary in their ability to protect against UVA and UVB rays.Sunscreen Write For Us
Most sunscreens with an SPF 15 or higher do an excellent job of protecting against UVB rays. SPF (Sun Protection Factor) measures the ability of sunscreen to prevent UVB rays from damaging the skin. Here’s how it works: If your unprotected skin takes 20 minutes to start turning red, using a sunscreen with an SPF 15 prevents redness theoretically 15 times longer – about five hours.
Another way to look at it is percentages: an SPF 15 blocks about 93 percent of all UVB rays. An SPF 30 blocks 97 percent, and an SPF 50 blocks 99 percent. They may seem insignificant differences, but if you are sensitive to light or have a history of skin cancer, those extra percentages will make a difference. And as you can see, no sunscreen can block all UV rays.
