How to ease the form of dark spots?

One of the most notable appearances of skin exposure to the sun over the years is brown spots. Are we, however, lost to live with this sign of age? Fortunately, the answer is no! There are different ways to counter skin aging and reduce the presence of dark spots. Here are two.

Photorejuvenation for Dark Spots

This technique of aesthetic medicine is also called intense pulsed light (IPL is the acronym in English). It is a  treatment that consists of emitting light pulses on different areas of the skin. For instance the face, neck, hands, and chest.

Intense pulsed light penetrates the dermis or layer of the skin. This process does not damage the first layer called the epidermis, which makes it very safe.

When the pulsed light reaches the skin tissue, it turns into heat. The heat absorbed by the sebaceous glands has the effect of reducing the size of the pores. And since collagen also absorbs heat, it helps smooth the skin.

Another consequence of pulsed light is to make the red blood cell clot, which makes it possible to eliminate redness and to fragment the melanin, which acts directly on brown spots. The pigmentation of the skin does not disappear completely, but it becomes much more subtle and less visible.

The photorejuvenation allows not only to fade brown spots and redness on the skin but to improve the texture as well as radiance.

During the treatment, a feeling of warmth felt by the patients. After each surgery, the dark spots may appear more mysterious, but they will then clear up on their own in 7 to 14 days.

The IPL usually requires 4 to 6 sessions of 30 minutes each at monthly intervals. The effects are long term; however, one or two maintenance treatments per year recommended after that. The use of sunscreen is necessary to prevent the appearance of new spots.

Peels

While IPL improves the appearance of the skin thanks to the effect of light, peels use only professional controlled exfoliation to regenerate the skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots.

A peel cure generally includes several treatments in the clinic with complementary products to apply at home. Again, this is a safe, non-invasive way to smooth and unify the skin.

During a peeling treatment, a solution is applied to the skin and then left for a few minutes, under the supervision of qualified personnel.

To target dark spots on mature skin, a peel cure usually spans 16 weeks, including three treatments and a kit of high-quality products. At the same time, as the brown spots that fade, the complexion will appear less dull and smoother, fine lines will be less pronounced, and the pores tightened.
