Prescription Drug Plan Basics
Medicare Part D prescription drug plans are also identified as PDPs. Medicare Part D is a government program that gives prescription drug insurance to everyone eligible for Medicare Part A and enrolled in Medicare Part B. When you’re ready to decide on a plan, take the time to understand how plans work. This way, you can make an informed decision and choose the right plan.
Different PDPs Cover Different Drugs
The federal government has definite guidelines for the types of drugs we must cover and the minimum usual benefits we must meet. Each plan has a formulary (list of covered drugs) that meets these requirements by law. Please note that not all plans are created equal. They may vary in cost or specific medications. If you enroll in a Medicare Part D plan, review the plan’s formulary to make sure it meets your prescription drug coverage requirements.
